The Rhythmic Gymnastics European Cup is being held in Baku for the second time. The tournament, which brings together 172 athletes from 25 countries, has started at the National Gymnastics Arena.
On the first day of the competition the qualification round senior individual gymnasts showcased their performances with Hoop and Ball routines. From the very beginning, the arena has been a stage not only for sports but also for an art form.
At the end of the two day qualification rounds, the top 16 senior individual gymnasts with the best results will be determined and they will compete in Cross battles.
In this cup, not only individual gymnasts but also group exercise teams will compete in Cross battles.
During the official opening ceremony, the President of European Gymnastics and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, emphasized that the main reason for the great popularity of gymnastics in our country is the care and attention given to this sport by the First Vice President and President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. The Minister also noted that Rhythmic gymnastics is the sport that attracts the most interest among girls in our country. According to him, this tournament is highly significant in helping athletes gain more experience.
The official opening then continued with various musical performances and shows.
For the next three days, the National Gymnastics Arena will continue to witness the peak moments of elegance and aesthetics.
