Spectators once again witnessed the success of the Azerbaijani athletes at the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics &Tumbling World Cup held in our country on February 23-25. The first medal for our team was won by European & two-time World Champion - Mikhail Malkin, who competed in the Final on the last day of the competition in Tumbling. Malkin, who won the title of the best gymnast of 2023 in Europe, once again proved that he is the strongest of all. Mikhail made Gymnastics fans happy with the Gold medal. After him, another experienced athlete, the winner of the World Championships in Team competition - Adil Hajizada - added the Silver medal (29.400) to our team’s assets.
Although the other members of our team in Tumbling - Tofig Aliyev (55.800) & Bilal Gurbanov (52.000), who ranked 4th & 5th, were also contenders for the Finals. They could not advance to the next stage because only two athletes from each country were allowed to participate in the final stage.
One of the main medal hopes of our team, who won Silver & Bronze medals in the last two World Cups held in our country - Seljan Mahsudova, unfortunately did not qualify for the Final because she made a mistake during her performance. She completed the event in the 24th place.
Our Synchronized Pair consisting of Huseyn Abbasov / Nijat Mirzayev, who made their debut at the World Cup, finished the competition at the 19th place.
In addition to the winners and prize-winners of the competition, at the Trampoline Gymnastics & Tumbling competitions among Men & Women, “AGF Trophy” were presented to the gymnasts who received the highest execution score in the Individual program. Trampoline athletes in Synchronized Pairs, who earned the highest Synchronized score, were also awarded with this Cup for the first time.
With this, the first World Cup, held with the participation of 300 athletes from 32 countries, was successfully came to an end.
