Today, our gymnast in Trampoline Gymnastics - Seljan Mahsudova performed at the Paris-2024 Games. Unfortunately, our athlete, who was competing among the 16 strongest female athletes in Trampoline Gymnastics in the world, didn’t succeed to qualify for the final. Selcan took the 10th place in the ranking with 53,750 points during her second qualification performance in a very tense contest with rivals who showed a very high level of preparation.
S. Mahsudova opened a new chapter in history of Gymnastics by historic qualification to the Olympic Games competitions in Trampoline Gymnastics, which has been developing in our country only for 10 years. It should be mentioned that Gold medalist of the Olympic Games, Chinese athlete in Trampoline Gymnastics - Zhu Xueying & Silver & Bronze medalist of the Olympic Games, representing Great Britain - Briony Page were competing in the events in Trampoline Gymnastics together with Selcan. Majority of athletes have had previous Olympic experience, while Selcan was one of the youngest among the competitors. This is a great achievement for the Azerbaijani Gymnastics school as our gymnast was among the strongest athletes in Trampoline Gymnastics of the world stage in this sport, while this discipline has been developing in our country only for 10 years. We believe that the perseverance and patience shown by our 20-year-old gymnast will open the door to greater success for her in future and we will experience joy of medal in her Olympic journey.
