Highlights of the second day remembered with historic medal

The second day of the 28th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Baku was successful for the National Team of Azerbaijan.
Our European Champions within Men’s Pair among juniors - Daniel Abbasov & Murad Rafiyev won the Bronze medal with 28,270 points. This is the first medal in history of Azerbaijani Acrobatic Gymnastics won at the World Championships.  Mixed Pair consisting of Aghasif Rahimov & Raziya Seyidli, representing Azerbaijan in Combined exercises, ranked 5th (28,670 points).
In the first part of the day, there were determined the winners of team competitions followed by the qualifications of finalists within Mixed Pairs & Men’s Groups in Dynamic exercises, Women’s Groups - Balance exercises.
In a team competition, Belgium won the Gold medal at Championships, receiving the most points in three categories - 51 points. Portuguese gymnasts won the Silver medal (48 points). The British Team ranked 3rd (46 points).
Our Mixed Pair - Aghasif Rahimov & Raziya Seyidli, representing Azerbaijan in the Qualifications of Dynamic exercises, reached the Final, taking the second place with 29,090 points.
Another Mixed Pair of Azerbaijan - Sabir Aghayev and Mehriban Salamova ranked 9th (26,340) in the same exercises.
It should be mentioned that our Mixed Pair consisting of Aghasif Rahimov & Raziya Seyidli and Men’s Pair of Azerbaijan - Daniel Abbasov and Murad Rafiyev will demonstrate Dynamic exercises tomorrow, while they will execute Balance exercises on March 13.
