An event dedicated to June 14 – World Blood Donor Day was held at the National Gymnastics Arena. Among the participants were families of martyrs, children with disabilities, and young patients suffering from blood disorders.
Following the official opening ceremony, children with disabilities performed the National Anthem in sign language. Additionally, a tour of the arena was organized for all attendees. The event, held under the slogan “Be Healthy – Be a Donor”, was jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation and the Azerbaijan Blood Donation Development Center.
It should be noted that the primary mission of the center is to support:
•    The organization of blood donation campaigns in government institutions and the private sector,
•    The development of a strong blood donation culture in Azerbaijan,
•    The promotion and awareness of hereditary blood disorders and consanguineous marriages among the youth,
•    The strengthening of related initiatives both in Baku and the regions.
The "Be Healthy – Be a Donor" event and other related activities are carried out in accordance with the State Program “Care for Children Suffering from Hemophilia and Thalassemia”, approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. These initiatives are also implemented within the "For a Life Without Thalassemia" program of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
