Azerbaijan was represented at all 6 gymnastics disciplines events included into the program of the 1st European Games held in Baku.
7 medals were won by the country’s gymnasts within the framework of the 1st European Games in Baku:
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 1st European Games, AGF President Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded with “Heydar Aliyev” order for a productive activity in development of culture, education, public health and sports in Azerbaijan, a broad propaganda of the Azerbaijani people’s cultural heritage on an international scale and great services in organization of the European Games.
AGF Vice-President Altay Hasanov was awarded with an order of “Fame” by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, according to the results achieved at gymnastics disciplines competitions of the European Games as well as for contribution in development of gymnastics in the country.
Oleg Stepko – an only athlete won 5 medals (1 “gold”, 2 “silvers”, 2 “bronzes”) at the events of the 1st European Games - was honored with the order of “Fame” from the hands’ of the country’s President.
Marina Durunda, Eldar Safarov, Petro Pakhnyuk and Ilya Grishunin were awarded with a medal of “Progress” of the country.
Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan was presented to coaches – Mariana Vasileva, Natalya Bulanova, Anastasiya Prasolova, Kamil Guliyev (Rhythmic Gymnastics), Danail Sheytanov, Pavlo Netreba, Rza Aliyev (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics) and Uladzimir Shulikin (Trampoline Gymnastics).
