It should be mentioned that on September 14-18, our team in group exercises won the Bronze medal (3 Ribbons & 2 Balls) at the 39th FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships held in Sofia (Bulgaria). A coach of the Azerbaijani Rhythmic Gymnastics National Team, a member of the Athletes’ Commission in Rhythmic Gymnastics of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) - Siyana Vasileva shared her impression on the performances of our team with the Press Service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF).
“Before the World Championships, our main goal was to be among the prize-winners. We are happy that the members of our National Team in group exercises managed to win a place on the podium. The achieved success is of special importance to us. This is the first medal in history of Azerbaijani Gymnastics won by our team in Group exercises at the Worlds. In general, I’m happy with the result. Yes, our gymnasts made a mistake at the All-Around competitions. We will learn from our mistakes and work on them.
First of all, I express my gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation - Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva for the training of our gymnasts at high level and the conditions created for us. Also, I would like to express my gratitude to the member of the Executive Committee of AGF, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports - Mariana Vasileva, who constantly monitors the training of our athletes & gives us her recommendations, and everyone who contributed to the team's preparation.
2022 - was a significant year for our team in Group exercises. Our representatives achieved successful results at the World Cups held in Baku, abroad and at a number of major competitions as well. This year, our team in Group exercises won 3 Bronze medals at the European Championships, 2 Gold & 1 Silver medals at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games.
Our main goal is to qualify for the Summer Olympic Games Paris-2024. Unfortunately, we could not achieve it at this World Championships. The Qualification for the Olympic Games are going on. We plan to execute our performances successfully competing at the next qualifications. Based on our experience at last competitions, there are some points we need to improve in our performance. We have to work on them. In this case, we can achieve even more results”.
