We present to you an interview with Per Joustrand, President of the European Gymnastics Technical Committee for TeamGym, who visited Baku.
What can you say about the final preparations?
– We are holding a meeting in Baku with the European Gymnastics Technical Committee. We are finalizing preparations for the major event that will take place here in mid-October. We are very excited, and I believe we are ready.
What are your thoughts on our experience in organizing international competitions?
– We know that the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) has organized many world-class gymnastics competitions. We also have extensive technical experience in organizing events. Now, for the first time, a TeamGym competition will be held in Baku – in your arena.
What can you tell us about TeamGym fans? What do they love most about this discipline?
– TeamGym is a very exciting sport. It combines high tempo and speed. The atmosphere in the arena is excellent. In mid-October, we expect to see many fans here. We are sure that in six weeks, the atmosphere will be so captivating that we’ll all be amazed.
Is this your first visit to Azerbaijan?
– Personally, I’ve been to Azerbaijan several times before for international gymnastics competitions. However, this is the first time we are holding a Technical Committee meeting here.
What can you say about the National Gymnastics Arena?
– It’s a very large arena. It stands out for its uniqueness in hosting both training and competitions for TeamGym. We will do everything to ensure the competitions run smoothly. This is the first time I’ve had the chance to see so many parts of the arena. It’s such a vast space that it’s suitable not only for spectators but also for administrative work, judges’ preparation, and more. That’s why we’re very proud to be at the National Gymnastics Arena.
What are your impressions of our country?
– Visiting a new city always means meeting new people and getting to know a new culture. To be honest, I haven’t seen much of the city, but I can already see that there is an interesting harmony between old and modern architecture. We’ve also met very enthusiastic and friendly people who are eager to make this event happen.
