Member of the Azerbaijani National Team among juniors - Kamila Gafarova, who won the Bronze medal at the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships in Tel Aviv (Israel), gave an interview to the Press Service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF).
Kamila, first of all, congratulations on winning the Bronze medal of the European Championships. Please share your impressions about the competition with us.
I was excited before the competition. This excitement was felt in my first routine. After qualifying for the Finals, I began to perform more confidently. My favorite apparatus are Clubs and a Hoop. I demonstrated my routine with these apparatus at the European Championships as well. I worked a lot on the program with a Hoop. There were some faults in my performance, so I could not win a medal.
What do you think has played the important role in winning a medal?
Of course, intense and continuous trainings, as well as hard work of my coaches A great job of my coaches is behind the medal I win. They always note our mistakes and support us.
On which points were you mainly concentrated during the last training sessions?
We mainly focused on clean execution of the elements. We also worked on throwing elements and artistry.
Which countries were the main rivals at the Continental Championships?
There was enough tense competition at the Europeans. Representatives of each country have seriously prepared for this competition. Each of the gymnasts had strong physical abilities. They performed their executions accurately. My main rivals were members of the teams from Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Israel and Poland.
To whom do you dedicate your medal?
I dedicate it to my coaches, my parents and my teammates, who competed with me at this event.
