Azerbaijani group team’s gymnasts have made a present to themselves for the International Lady’s Day. The group won the third place in one of the finals of the World Cup series in rhythmic gymnastics held in Hungarian Debrecen.
Namely Jeyla Guliyeva, Stefani Trayanova, Anastasiya Prasolova, Nigar Abdusalimova, Jamila Huseynova and Nigar Mirzayeva tried the bronze medals on after the final performance with two ropes and three ribbons. The first two places were won by the teams from Russia and Belarus.
“We also performed in another final with 5 hoops,” a head coach of the Azerbaijani national team Mariana Vasileva noted. “The girls put their heart and skill into this exercise as well, but we took the 4th place as a result. Nevertheless, I am contended with the results as it was the first World Cup series in this season.”
According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Aliya Garayeva and Anna Gurbanova performed in separate finals of the series’ individual competitions. Garayeva gave the best result having won the 4th place in an exercise with a rope. Aliya also took the 5th places with a hoop and a ribbon and the 7th place with a ball. Gurbanova’s results are as follows: a rope - the 5th place, a ball – the 6th place, a ribbon - the 8th place and a hoop – the 9th place. A Russian Yevgeniya Kanayeva became a winner in all kinds of the program.
In the final of the international tournament among juniors, a high result was given by Lala Yusifova. The promising 14-year-old gymnast from Baku won the 5th place in two exercises – with a rope and a hoop. Jala Garatova reached one of the finals and took the 6th place.
An Azerbaijani gymnast competed in one more international tournament. According to the all-around results, Samira Mustafayeva became the 6th among 22 participants at the competitions in Ljubljana.
As it was informed by the head coach, gymnasts’ caravan would move on from Hungary to Portuguese Portimao city, where the World Cup series and international junior tournament to be held on March 11-14. “Another two junior gymnasts Aysha Mustafayeva and Ekaterina Prokopenko will join the team which has already performed in the coastal city washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean,” M. Vasileva summed up.
And “Alina 2010” qualification tournament for the Rhythmic Gymnastics Festival dedicated to the Day of Children’s Defense will be held in Moscow on March 13. Two teams will represent Azerbaijan at this forum.
